Call for Abstracts, Papers, and Submissions:<\/strong>

Environmental Politics in Turbulent Times<\/strong> (abstracts<\/em>)
Unpredictability and deep uncertainty of environmental change present profound challenges for contemporary and future public policy-making. At the same time, a new geopolitical situation challenges environmental policy. Demonstrations against climate action show that climate policy can be vulnerable to defeat and \u2018hard\u2019 policies may trigger backlash of environmental policy. Climate policy can, however, also create new opportunities for competitiveness and security. These are examples of turbulence that contemporary environmental politics need to grapple with.

Against this background, this special issue from the Journal of European Public Policy (JEPP) aims to understand environmental politics in turbulent times. JEPP invite papers addressing the relationship between turbulence and policy-making in environmental politics at different l+evels of governance in the EU and their interfaces \u2013 such as the effects of the European Green Deal, which is evolving into a Clean Industrial Deal, vis-\u00e0-vis EU member states and non-member states as well as for external jurisdictions. European Association of Climate Law<\/strong> Annual Conference <\/strong>(abstracts<\/em>)
The European Association of Climate Law (EACL) invites submissions for its first Conference \u2013 a platform to discuss current developments, future challenges, and intergenerational justice in climate law. The conference features two separate calls for abstracts: one for the Early Career Researcher Workshop on the first day and one for the general session on the second day. Concentration of Corporate Power in Global Food Systems and its Implications for the Realization of the Right to Food<\/strong>
Purpose: To inform the Special Rapporteur\u2019s upcoming thematic report to the UN General Assembly, October 2025. The Special Rapporteur seeks inputs from both States and civil society to better understand how the concentration of power in the hands of a relatively small number corporations affects food systems, governance, and people\u2019s everyday lives \u2014 and to explore transformative alternatives that prioritize human rights, social equity, and ecological sustainability. On the Draft of General Comment No. 27 on Children\u2019s Right to Access to Justice and to an Effective Remedy<\/strong>

Biodiversity and Human Rights<\/strong>
Purpose: To inform the High Commissioner\u2019s global analytical study on the implementation of a human rights-based approach into the goals and targets of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, in line with the provisions of the Convention on Biological Diversity, consistent with the considerations set out in section C of the Framework and taking into consideration the outcomes of the sixteenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention. With your ability to interact with and gain cooperation from a wide variety of stakeholders, you will\u00a0work in close collaboration with stakeholders to help to ensure that Climateworks\u2019 impact on sustainability and emissions reduction across Southeast Asia is realised. UC Berkeley School of Law, Climate Change and Methane Policy Fellow<\/strong> (Berkeley, CA<\/em>)
The Climate Change and Methane Policy Research Fellow will focus on multiple aspects of methane emissions reduction at the local, state, national, and international level, with the intent to move solutions to policy and scale, including with the Subnational Methane Action Coalition (SMAC). The fellow will conduct research and work with government and NGO partners to identify barriers to implementation of solutions, including political, technological, regulatory, and educational.\u00a0\u00a0The exact responsibilities will vary based on the evolution of various initiatives, the expertise and experience of the selected research fellow, and in response to the ongoing evolution of the field. We\u2019re seeking a passionate Programme Manager to lead the\u00a0Climate Sisters project<\/a>\u00a0\u2013 a transformative initiative amplifying the voices of marginalised and racialised women in climate justice. The Programme Manager will oversee all aspects of delivery, collaborate with community partners, and supervise the Project Coordinator. Global Climate Summit<\/strong> (online and in-person<\/em>)
In June 2025 the University of Oxford is hosting a global summit on climate change and human rights in partnership with UN Human Rights, the Right Here, Right Now Global Climate Alliance, the International Universities Climate Alliance and co-host universities across the world. The cornerstone of the summit is a hybrid global event on World Environment Day,\u00a0June 5, 2025<\/strong>. From\u00a0June 2-6, 2025<\/strong>, the University of Oxford will be hosting local activities themed around climate justice, as will many of our partner universities around the world.
