The American Bar Association\u2019s (ABA)\u00a0Section of Environment, Energy and Resources (SEER)<\/strong> (trend articles<\/em>)
The ABA SEER\u00a0is now soliciting\u00a0student submissions\u00a0for its May\/June 2025 issue of\u00a0Trends, a bi-monthly newsletter on new cases, regulations, and issues in environmental, energy and resources law. Is there a pending case before the Supreme Court that interests you?\u00a0What about a major decision from a Court of Appeals or state Supreme Court?\u00a0Has your state passed a new environmental law or recently implemented a regulation?\u00a0The May\/June issue of\u00a0Trends\u00a0will be\u00a0reserved for publishing student pieces of\u00a0750-1,000 words. \u00a0Only students pursuing a law degree (JD, LLM, or JSD) are eligible to submit.\u00a0Deadline: March 1, 2025<\/strong>. 12th EELF Conference – Climate Adaptation and Resilience<\/strong> (abstracts)
The EELF annual conference is meant to be the major annual assembly of European Environmental Law scholars and practitioners. It provides a unique opportunity to meet colleagues from across Europe and to discuss topical issues of environmental law development and implementation. The conference combines plenary keynotes, parallel sessions and an attractive social program. It is addressed to both experienced senior experts and younger colleagues. The 12th 2025 Conference is hosted by Ghent University, The Netherlands, September 10-12, 2025 and will be dedicated to climate adaptation and resilience. Abstract deadline: April 15, 2025<\/strong>. Institute for Human Rights and Development in Africa – Advocacy Officer<\/strong> (Banjul, The Gambia<\/em>)
IHRDA is seeking to recruit an Advocacy Officer to lead IHRDA\u2019s work on mainstreaming advocacy into implementation of decisions of African human rights protection mechanisms as well as other advocacy-related activities within IHRDA\u2019s three-fold mandate of \u2018Defend\u2019, \u2018Educate\u2019 and \u2018Inform.\u2019 The suitable applicant should be well-experienced in strategic litigation and have an in-depth knowledge of and familiarity with the African human rights system.\u00a0Deadline: February 7, 2025<\/strong>. University of Oxford – Postdoctoral Researcher in Climate Vulnerability<\/strong> (Oxford, England<\/em>)
Applicants are invited to apply for the position of Postdoctoral Researcher at the Department of Politics and International Relations, to join the project \u201cVarieties of Climate Vulnerability: Assessing Socio-Economic and Political Risks in the Anthropocene\u201d, headed by Professor Federica Genovese (the Principal Investigator). The position is a full time fixed-term position for 2 years, ideally starting from October 1, 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter. Application deadline: February 26, 2025<\/strong>. Vermont Law School – Parenteau Climate Action Fellow<\/strong> (Vermont, USA<\/em>)
The Vermont Law & Graduate School\u2019s Environmental Law Center and Environmental Advocacy Clinic invite applications from recent or upcoming law graduates to serve as a one-year climate action fellow to begin in August 2025, with presumed renewal for one additional year (specific start and end dates are negotiable). The position combines an opportunity to conduct academic, legal, and\/or policy research on climate law with responsibilities to work with student clinicians in the Environmental Advocacy Clinic on cutting-edge climate litigation and advocacy. In this insightful discussion on the role of municipal green bonds in financing climate adaptation projects in urban environments, H\u00e9ctor Herrera explores the critical need to address environmental racism and historical injustices in urban climate adaptation efforts. New Directions in Environmental Law<\/strong> (in person – Yale Law School<\/em>)
This year’s New Directions in Environmental Law Conference will be hosted at Yale Law School and will analyze changes and emerging issues in environmental law. The past year has brought many challenges and opportunities to the field of environmental law: U.S. courts reversed central doctrines of Administrative Law, communities around the globe have increasingly felt the consequences of the climate crisis, and international courts began issuing advisory opinions on climate change. By bringing together practitioners, scholars, activists, and law students, we anticipate that NDEL 2025 will provide participants with opportunities for progressive conversation and change.
