SDGS+10: A GLOBAL LEGAL STOCKTAKE OF ACHIEVEMENTS, OPPORTUNITIES AND CHALLENGES<\/strong> (abstracts<\/em>)
The first annual Critical Perspectives on Sustainable Development and Global Law Conference of the Centre for International Law and Globalisation, Southampton Law School will facilitate an opportunity to critically engage with the challenges and opportunities of achieving the SDGs, especially in the context of climate change and interlinked global crises. We cordially invite you to submit your abstract (not exceeding 300 words) to kl1n18@soton.ac.uk (RA Hwon Lee) before February 28, 2025<\/strong>. We welcome submissions for one of the following panels:
-Goals 13 and 7, non-proliferation of fossil fuels and energy resilience
-Harnessing AI for SDGs

Utopic Imaginings – Social and Health Sciences Special Issue<\/strong> (abstracts<\/em>)
This Special Issue focuses on the afterlives of genocide \/ ecocide \/ scholasticide \/ educaricide \/ epistemicide and the ways in which restorative justice and utopic imaginings can contribute towards the remaking of life. Furthermore, the contribution of utopic imaginings to scholarship spotlights radical hope as a material reality, allowing for interdisciplinary scholarship to focus on rethinking the significance of love for rhizomatic networks of life-giving. Moreover, the Special Issue highlights rethinking post-genocidal othering through bridging art, activism and scholarship in finding a lingua franca beyond the war economy. 250 word abstracts and expressions of interest should be sent by March 7, 2025<\/strong>. Call for input of the Special Rapporteur on the independence of judges and lawyers for the next thematic report on Indigenous justice<\/strong>

Purpose<\/em>:\u00a0The United Nations Special Rapporteur on the independence of judges and lawyers, Margaret Satterthwaite, invites Member States, national human rights institutions, and other relevant State institutions, international and regional organizations, civil society, scholars, activists, and other interested individuals and organizations to provide written inputs for her next thematic report on Indigenous justice. The report will be presented at the 59th session of the Human Rights Council in June 2025.

To achieve its mission, the ECF must respond with agility and flexibility, deep insight, broad-based collaboration and collective actions. In this context, the Management Team (MT) that includes programmatic Executive Directors (EDs), Strategic Partnerships ED, COO, CFO, MD and CEO, must ensure a high degree of internal cohesion, communication and agility while speaking with one voice. Each member has a clear strategic role according to its expertise and, to further support the cross-spectrum approach, most EDs have mixed portfolios of countries\/sectors\/international, including programs and campaigns. Raoul Wallenberg Institute, Programme Officer for Climate Change and Human Mobility<\/strong> (Bangkok, Thailand<\/em>)
RWI is excited to announce an opportunity for a full-time Programme Officer to join our inaugural office in Bangkok, Thailand, starting January 2025. This role offers the unique chance to play a key part in RWI\u2019s work on Climate Change and Human Mobility within the Asia Pacific Region, under the RAPP 2 initiative,\u00a0funded by Sida. In this role, the Programme Officer will manage the planning, coordination, and implementation of RWI\u2019s climate change and human mobility initiatives. Reporting directly to the Asia Pacific Regional Director, the officer will work closely with thematic leads based in Lund, Sweden, to ensure cohesive programme delivery and alignment with RWI\u2019s global strategy. University of Basel, 2x PhDs in Sustainability Research<\/strong> (Basel, Switzerland<\/em>)
The Sustainability Research Group at the University of Basel, led by Prof. Dr. Janina Grabs, is looking for two PhD researchers to investigate the governance of sustainable agri-food systems, with a particular focus on the implementation of mandatory sustainability legislation in tropical agri-food commodity chains, in the framework of the SNF-funded Starting Grant Project EXPECT-AGRI. Both appointments are scheduled to begin on March 1, 2025, or at the earliest convenience of the successful candidates. THE IMPLEMENTATION OF UN GENERAL ASSEMBLY RESOLUTION 76\/300 RECOGNIZING THE RIGHT TO A CLEAN, HEALTHY, AND SUSTAINABLE ENVIRONMENT<\/strong> (online and in-person, Geneva<\/em>)
The global recognition of the right to a clean, healthy, and sustainable environment (HR2HE) through United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) Resolution 76\/300 marks a key advancement in aligning human rights with environmental protection. This conference aims to explore the implications of Resolution 76\/300, focusing on both its potential and limitations. The discussion will notably address the legal status of the resolution, the opportunities it offers for advancing environmental protection, its influence on legal reforms, policy frameworks, jurisprudence and international collaboration, and its role in combating the fight against the triple planetary crisis. Attribution Science and Climate Law Conference<\/strong> (online and in-person, New York City<\/em>)
Attribution science provides critical insights on both the impacts attributable to anthropogenic climate change and the relative contributions of different sources for those impacts. This research plays an important role in climate litigation as well as policy-making and regulatory decision-making. For example, courts refer to attribution research when assessing legal obligations with regards to the mitigation of climate change and its harmful impacts. Attribution research is also used to support policy decisions and administrative actions, such as greenhouse gas regulations, adaptation measures, and protections for climate-imperiled species.\u00a0This conference will further advance collaboration between the scientific, legal and policy-making communities by bringing together a diverse group of researchers and practitioners to share insights on the status of attribution research and its relevance to climate law and policy.
