Coloquio Latinoamericano y Caribe\u00f1o de Educaci\u00f3n en Derechos Humanos \/ Latin American and Caribbean Colloquium on Human Rights Education<\/strong> (abstracts<\/em>)
The XI edition of the Colloquia aims to bring together teachers, students, researchers, extension workers, members of civil society as well as representatives of non-governmental organizations, committed to the promotion, defense and training in human rights. It is a three-day meeting in which good practices on HRE will be shared. HRE takes place in formal educational spaces at all educational levels, and also in non-formal settings. We will promote exchanges and learning to find out how, with what tools, and with what approaches we teach and learn about human rights and, at the same time, seek to understand the reasons and practices that hinder and slow down human rights education. 300-400 word abstract deadline: October 24, 2024<\/strong>. Transformations Community\/Earth System Governance Conference 2025 <\/strong>(abstracts\/session plans<\/em>)
The 2025 TC\/ESG Conference will feature a programmatic focus on navigating sustainability transformations towards justice and equity. Achieving a fair and inclusive future where we live well within the limits of our planet requires societies to undergo transformations that will enhance the quality of life for both present and future generations, and across species. These sustainability transformations must address existing injustices, including those produced by systems of domination such as colonialism, while also ensuring that new inequities are not created in the process. This conference aims to bring together academics and practitioners that are navigating these complexities in their work to share their insights and build new transdisciplinary collaborations towards building sustainable and just futures. The California Policy Advocate will be responsible for working with California Regional Office staff and other Earthjustice team members, as appropriate, to develop and implement legislative and administrative strategies in Sacramento, under the direction of the California Regional Office Managing Attorney. Our current California priorities include protecting frontline communities and public lands from oil and gas development, safeguarding ecosystems and imperiled species, advancing clean energy innovation towards a zero-emissions future, improving air quality for vulnerable communities in Los Angeles and the Central Valley, and fighting dangerous pesticide use that impacts communities and ecosystems. Arctic Council Secretariat – Paid Internship<\/strong> (Troms\u00f8, Norway<\/em>)
The ACS is seeking an intern interested in learning the aspects of working in an international environment. The duration of the internship is expected to be 10-12 months full time. The intern will be under the guidance of experienced secretariat staff members. An open mind to cultural differences and a strong team spirit are essential. Interns must be enrolled in a university degree program, Bachelor\u2019s or Master\u2019s level (or having concluded studies no later than 12 months before the application deadline). Applicants for this position must be a citizen of one of the eight Arctic States; Canada, Kingdom of Denmark, Finland, Iceland, United States, Sweden, Russian Federation or Norway. Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change and the Environment – Executive Director\/Professor in Practice<\/strong> (London<\/em>)
The Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change and the Environment has established a new specialist sub-centre, the\u00a0Centre for Economic Transition Expertise (CETEx), which focuses on leveraging, strengthening and amplifying research, as well as developing well targeted policy analysis and other outputs by convening policymakers and providing technical support, assistance and capacity-building.\u00a0The post holder will lead on developing the institutional and operational structure of CETEx, have broad oversight of the centre\u2019s operations and, with the CETEx leadership team, contribute to advancing the content strategy and conducting high-level engagements with external stakeholders and audiences.\u00a0Application deadline: November 3, 2024<\/strong>. Climate Litigation Virtual Summit: Domestic Enforcement of International Climate Change Commitments<\/strong> (online<\/em>)
This program will compare international climate enforcement cases from Brazil (PSB et al. v. Brazil), France (Notre Affaire a Tous and Others v. France), and Mexico (Neustros Derechos al Futuro y Medio Ambientes Sano et al., v. Mexico) with the 2022 U.S. Supreme Court case\u00a0West Virginia v. EPA. Panelists will discuss their strategies, the impact of these cases on future litigation, and differences in enforcement using domestic and international law in the U.S and these countries. Climate Change Litigation and Corporations – Comparative Perspectives in France and Europe<\/strong> (Aix-en-Provence, France and online<\/em>)
This conference results from the convergence of two research programs and one university institute highly in sustainability issues: the\u00a0Global Perspectives on Corporate Climate Legal Tactics project<\/a>\u00a0which aims to inventory various climate lawsuits involving corporations worldwide and will hold here its French National Conference as well as its European Regional Summit; the\u00a0ANR Proclimex project<\/a>, which focuses particularly on the role of expertise in climate litigation; and the\u00a0Institute of Law Ethics and Heritage of the University of Paris-Saclay<\/a>\u00a0which develops intensive research in the fields of corporate social responsibility, economic environmental law and new forms of normativities.

The conference will examine the main issues raised by climate litigation involving corporations in France and Europe from these three perspectives, questioning the invoked legal grounds, evidentiary challenges, pursued objectives, and emerging trends.
