Call for Abstracts, Papers, and Submissions:<\/strong>

Double Standards for International Law<\/strong> (abstracts<\/em>)
Double standards are ubiquitous within the study and practice of international law. Examples abound as states speak abstractly about the need for accountability and their commitment to international law but in practice act inconsistently, for example, in applying human rights standards, combating transnational and international crimes, or making and enforcing the rules that govern trade and development. This workshop, hosted at Freie Universit\u00e4t Berlin, Germany seeks to foster debate about how double standards are expressed within international law and enhance understanding of how evidence of double standards impacts perceptions and practice. Abstracts should be a maximum of 500 words. Deadline: April 7, 2024<\/strong>. See more here<\/a>.

Disaster Displacement and the Nordic Region <\/strong>(abstracts)<\/em>
The Nordic Network on Climate-Related Displacement and Mobility welcomes abstracts for its interdisciplinary conference \u201cDisaster Displacement and the Nordic Region\u201d to be held August 23, 2024 at the University of Copenhagen. Abstracts of maximum 500 words and a 2-page CV should be submitted via the conference website by May 1, 2024.<\/strong> Comparative approaches welcome. Participants will be selected and notified by end-May 2024. Indigenous scholars are particularly encouraged to submit an abstract. Some limited funding is available to cover transport and accommodation. See more here<\/a>.

Journal of Studies and Research on Organized Crime<\/strong> (papers<\/em>)
The Journal of Studies and Research on Organized Crime<\/em> invites to submit papers for a special issue<\/a> on environmental crime, a theme of great relevance at national and international level, given its negative impact on the environment, the citizens\u2019 health, the economy and the fabric of society. The Journal will accept original theoretical and\/or empirical contributions addressing the issue from various methodological and disciplinary perspectives (historical, political and institutional, juridical, economic, sociological etc.). Papers may be up to 10,000 words (including notes and bibliography), and are accepted until June 1, 2024<\/strong>. University College Cork<\/strong> (PhD<\/em>)
A PhD researcher is sought for a four year, Cork-based PhD on children\/youth climate cases.\u00a0<\/strong>The PhD researcher will join a vibrant, interdisciplinary team (on the Youth Climate Justice project, funded by the European Research Council) researching child\/youth climate action around the world. This PhD candidate will engage in academic analysis of litigation and other action taken by children to achieve climate justice.\u00a0Previous experience in\u00a0legal analysis is essential. Oceana is looking for an experienced Head of Policy and Research to develop, implement and advise on all of our policy and research requirements in the UK. University of Amsterdam, Climate Litigation and Democracy<\/strong>\u00a0(4x PhDs, 1x Postdoc<\/em>)
We have five new positions within the project \u2018Strategic Climate Litigation\u2019s Direct and Indirect Consequences for Democracies\u2019. Apply now to join us in September at the Amsterdam Law School as one of four PhD candidates and one Postdoc position. Child Migration and the Geopolitics of Compassion <\/strong>(hybrid<\/em>)
Anita Casavantes Bradford (University of California Irvine) and Francesca Meloni (King\u2019s College London) will discuss Anita\u2019s new book,\u00a0Suffer the Little Children: Child Migration and the Geopolitics of Compassion in the United States<\/em><\/a>. The book is the first comprehensive historical analysis of unaccompanied child migration to the United States from 1930 to present day. The book argues that the US response to unaccompanied child migration has been consistently driven by a geopolitics of compassion that prioritises foreign policy and domestic political objectives over children\u2019s best interests. Transnational climate and ecological litigation: Exploring the transformative role of actors in shaping legal mechanisms<\/strong> (hybrid<\/em>)
Legal action is increasingly being pursued globally in response to perceived environmental injustices, adverse environmental impacts, and ecological conflicts. The workshop, in English and Spanish, aims to facilitate knowledge-sharing and collaboration among experts and civil society regarding the challenges and opportunities of using judicial and quasi-judicial mechanisms to transform transnational social-ecological disputes and promote ecological, territorial, and human rights protection.
