Reimagining Sustainability: Critical Dialogues on S\u00e1mi and Indigenous Peoples in the Green Transition<\/strong> (abstracts<\/em>)
The University of Helsinki, Finland invite submissions for abstracts and biographies for our upcoming Workshop on S\u00e1mi and Indigenous Rights within the Framework of the Green Transition. Prospective participants are kindly requested to submit a 250-word abstract along with a brief biography by March 31, 2024<\/strong>. Participants will be selected and notified by mid-April 2024. Vanderbilt Social Justice Reporter Journal <\/strong>(submissions<\/em>)
VSJR<\/a> strives to publish scholarship that will challenge the \u201cneutral\u201d tenets of the law by elevating traditionally minimized or excluded stories and empowering readers from all backgrounds to engage in the pursuit of social justice and civil rights. We are currently preparing our initial slate for publication (set for publication May 8th<\/sup>) and are seeking either a Law and Policy Commentary (1,000-2,500 words) or a Short-form Text (500-1,000 words). Climate Change and Migration: New Challenges, Legal Responses, and Policy Solutions<\/strong> (abstracts<\/em>)
The\u00a0Human Rights Law Centre (HRLC)\u00a0and the Nottingham Trent University\u2019s\u00a0Climate Justice Hub<\/a>, in collaboration with the ICON\u2022S\u00a0Interest Group on Climate Change and Migration<\/a>\u00a0and the ESIL\u00a0Interest Group on Migration and Refugee Law<\/a>, are inviting applications for their seminar on \u2018Climate Change and Migration: New Challenges, Legal Responses, and Policy Solutions\u2019. The seminar, sponsored by the\u00a0Socio-Legal Studies Association (SLSA)<\/a>,\u00a0will take place in person on June 19, 2024 at the University of Nottingham\u2019s University Park campus. UC Berkeley Law<\/strong> (Research Fellow<\/em>)
The Center for Law, Energy & the Environment is seeking to hire a Research Fellow focused on carbon dioxide removal via direct air capture. The Climate Research Fellow \u2013 Carbon Removal will support implementation of a grant from the Department of Energy under the Regional Direct Air Capture Hubs Funding Opportunity Announcement. This project will engage multiple partners to complete a technical and social feasibility assessment of a direct air capture hub California\u2019s San Joaquin Valley. The Law Division is the lead Division charged with carrying out the functions of UNEP in the field of environmental law, environmental governance and related policy issues including those related to Multilateral Environmental Agreements (MEAs). The Law Division promotes the contribution of the environmental dimension of sustainable development through law, national and international governance and related policy issues, including those related to Multilateral Environmental Agreements (MEAs). This position is located in the UNEP Law Division in Nairobi, Kenya. We have five new positions within the project \u2018Strategic Climate Litigation\u2019s Direct and Indirect Consequences for Democracies\u2019. Indigenous Legal Principles and Values as an Opportunity for Coordinated Multi-Jurisdictional and Transboundary Freshwater Governance<\/strong> (hybrid<\/em>)
In the past, Indigenous voices have often been disregarded or silenced in water governance decision-making spaces.\u00a0The new federal approach, which aims to redefine Canada\u2019s water future, is an opportunity to engage with Indigenous science, knowledge, laws, values, principles and process in order to help ensure sustainability.\u00a0The talk at the University of British Columbia will canvass three unique approaches within the Lake Winnipeg Watershed (the second largest in Canada) as case studies for Indigenous-led water governance and draw some common themes relating to indigenized and decolonial water governance.\u00a0Date: April 3, 2024<\/strong>. The School of Law, University College Cork, Ireland will host the 20th annual Law and the Environment Conference on April 25, 2024<\/strong> which will focus on various forms of environmental rights (broadly understood) that may be asserted in law and on the full range of remedies and redress that may be available where such rights are infringed or impacted.
