Call for Abstracts, Papers, and Submissions:<\/strong>

Strategic Litigation and Climate Equality, UC Berkeley Symposium<\/strong> (abstracts<\/em>)
Litigation on climate change is occurring around the world at national, regional and international levels. Many of these cases raise equality issues pointing to the unequal impacts of climate change on a range of vulnerable groups, but equality law arguments are not always front and center in these cases. It is an important moment to share examples of such cases, evaluate the track record of this litigation, and consider how to address the disproportionate impacts of the climate crisis more effectively via climate litigation. This symposium is focused on encouraging and enabling practitioners and scholars to exchange knowledge, expertise and strategic insights. 300-word abstracts should be sent by 28 March, 2024<\/strong>. Handbook of Climate Change, Environment and Children’s Rights Law in Africa<\/strong>, Elgar Publishing (abstracts<\/em>)
The Handbook seeks to assemble a range of contributions from across the continent with the ultimate goal of clarifying, redefining and proposing new legal principles, norms and practices relating to the global climate crisis and environmental change from a child-rights perspective. Contributions devoted to all aspects of the climate emergency, global environmental change and children’s rights law in relation to legal and policy dimensions, governance systems and practices as well as regional and national specific case studies. Abstracts should be 250 words and submitted by 30 March, 2024<\/strong>. See more here<\/a>.

Marine & Environmental Law Institute’s Ocean Yearbook <\/strong>(papers<\/em>)
The\u00a0Ocean Yearbook<\/em>\u00a0editors \u2013 Aldo Chircop, Scott Coffen-Smout, Moira L. McConnell and Sara L Seck are now inviting submissions for\u00a0Volume 39<\/strong>.\u00a0 Articles on one or more of the following topics will be considered for publication: Issues and Prospects; Ocean Governance; Living Resources of the Ocean;Non-living Ocean Resources; Transportation and Communications; Environment and Coastal Management; Maritime Security; Military Activities; Regional Developments; Training and Education; and Polar Issues. Course: University of Eastern Finland (UEF) \u2013 United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) Course on Multilateral Environmental Agreements<\/strong> (Helsinki<\/em>)
The UEF-UNEP Course on Multilateral Environmental Agreements is a high-profile two-week course on MEAs, international environmental law-making and diplomacy. It is organised annually in cooperation with the University of Eastern Finland and United Nations Environment Programme, with a changing course venue and theme each year. The aim of the Course is to equip present and future negotiators of multilateral environmental agreements with the information and experiences of others in the area of international environmental law-making to improve the impact and implementation of these key treaties. YEE<\/a>\u00a0is excited to announce the opening of a full-time Project Lead (40 hours\/week) to lead a work package within a consortium and assist in any dedicated tasks throughout the project. Responsibilities include stakeholder mapping, grant management, budget monitoring, and data management. The selected candidate must have language\u00a0proficiency in English and Czech<\/strong>. University of Leeds <\/strong>(Lecturer in Physical Climate Science, England<\/em>)
The School of Earth and Environment (SEE) is seeking applications from an enthusiastic and self-motivated physical climate scientist to complement existing expertise in the School. Your role will be to strengthen and expand physical climate change research and teaching activities in SEE. We are specifically looking for someone who will support physical climate science teaching in the recently launched MSc Climate Futures: Science, Society and Policy programme. Climate Litigation and Justice in Africa<\/strong>, LSE Grantham Institute (online<\/em>)
In recent years, climate litigation has become an important subject of global scholarly and policy interest. However, developments within the Global South, particularly in Africa, have been largely neglected. In this webinar, we will discuss a new book, co-edited by visiting Fellow Kim Bouwer. The book,\u00a0Climate Litigation and Justice in Africa,<\/em>\u00a0brings together an international team of contributors to provide a much-needed examination of climate litigation in Africa. Women Speaking Out About COP28 – Exploring the outcomes of the UN Conference of the Parties <\/strong>(online<\/em>)
In this event WCC Founder, Dr Janet Salisbury will be in conversation with Mamta Borgoyary, a Co-Director of She Changes Climate, whose advocacy brought the need for a phase-out of fossil fuels to the fore at COP28; Angelica Mantikas, a youth advocate with the Australian delegation and coordinator of the Oceania Climate Stories project; Tishiko King, Torres Strait Islander and Our Islands Our Home campaigner; and Sarah Ransom, General Manager, Australian Water Partnerships.
