Spring Creek Project at Oregon State University will co-host the\u00a0Permanent Peoples\u2019 Tribunal Session on\u00a0Human Rights, Fracking, and Climate Change<\/em>\u00a0from May 14 to 18, 2018.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The panel of judges of the Permanent Peoples\u2019 Tribunal<\/a>\u00a0will be asked to provide an\u00a0advisory opinion\u00a0<\/strong>on four central questions:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Under what circumstances do fracking and other unconventional oil and gas extraction techniques breach human rights protected by international law as a matter of treaty or custom?<\/li>\n
  2. Under what circumstances do fracking and other unconventional oil and gas extraction techniques warrant the issuance of either provisional measures, a judgment enjoining further activity, remediation relief, or damages for causing environmental harm?<\/li>\n
  3. What is the extent of responsibility and liability of States and non-State actors for violations of human rights and for environmental and climate harm caused by these oil and gas extraction techniques?<\/li>\n
  4. What is the extent of responsibility and liability of States and non-State actors, both legal and moral, for violations of the rights of nature related to environmental and climate harm caused by these unconventional oil and gas extraction techniques?<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    For the first time this session of the Permanent Peoples\u2019 Tribunal will be hosted completely online.\u00a0 Attorneys and witnesses will convene via\u00a0Zoom web conferencing software<\/strong>\u00a0each day to present evidence and testimony to the panel of the judges of the Permanent Peoples\u2019 Tribunal.<\/p>\n

    2. \u00bfEn qu\u00e9 circunstancias el fracking y otras t\u00e9cnicas de extracci\u00f3n de petr\u00f3leo y gas no convencionales justifican la emisi\u00f3n de medidas provisionales, un juicio que ordena nuevas actividades, medidas correctivas o da\u00f1os por causar da\u00f1o ambiental?<\/li>\n
    3. \u00bfCu\u00e1l es el alcance de la responsabilidad y la responsabilidad de los Estados y los agentes no estatales por las violaciones de los derechos humanos y por los da\u00f1os ambientales y clim\u00e1ticos causados por estas t\u00e9cnicas de extracci\u00f3n de petr\u00f3leo y gas?<\/li>\n

      Por primera vez, esta sesi\u00f3n del Tribunal Permanente de los Pueblos ser\u00e1 realizada completamente en internet.       La Sessione del Tribunale Permanente dei Popoli su\u00a0Diritti umani, fracking e cambiamento climatico<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0sar\u00e0 ospitata dallo Spring Creek Project dell\u2019Oregon State University e si terr\u00e0 dal\u00a014 al 18 maggio 2018<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

      I\u00a0giudici nominati dal Tribunale<\/a>\u00a0sono chiamati a valutare:<\/p>\n

      3. Qual \u00e8 l\u2019entit\u00e0 della responsabilit\u00e0 degli Stati e degli attori non statali per le violazioni dei diritti umani e per i danni ambientali e climatici causati da queste tecniche di estrazione del petrolio e del gas?<\/li>\n
      4. Qual \u00e8 l\u2019entit\u00e0 della della responsabilit\u00e0 degli Stati e degli attori non statali, sia legale che morale, per le violazioni dei diritti della natura connessi ai danni ambientali e climatici causati da queste tecniche non convenzionali di estrazione del petrolio e del gas?<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
