Project Summary<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2021, the Escaz\u00fa Agreement entered into force. The Agreement brings several legal questions with innovative provisions that must now be translated at the national and local levels. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

To facilitate the implementation of the Escaz\u00fa Agreement, the GNHRE ran a multi-layered project throughout 2021. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project consisted of four parts: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \n
  1. An online blog symposium<\/a> kicked off some of the legal challenges in the implementation of the Escaz\u00fa Agreement. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. A 2-day summit<\/a> was held virtually on October 7th and 8th, 2021. The event combined a plenary session on the first day and a workshop on the second day. The workshop gathered a small group of international experts from academia, legal practice, NGOs, and public institutions. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. A task force has been working on drafting the GNHRE Principles for the Implementation of the Escaz\u00fa Agreement. The principles will be published in January 2022.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. We have also developed a running bibliography on the Escaz\u00fa Agreement that informs the discussions and any future work on the Escaz\u00fa Agreement.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
