Call for Abstracts, Papers, and Submissions:

Legal Advisory Opinions Shaping Climate Action and Human Rights (proposals)
Last month, two landmark Advisory Opinions were issued: the Advisory Opinion OC-32/25 on Climate Emergency and Human Rights by the Corte Interamericana de Derechos Humanos, and the Advisory Opinion on the Obligations of States in respect of Climate Change by the International Court of Justice (ICJ). This conference will explore the actual and potential human rights implications of these Advisory Opinions, examining the evolving legal landscape where climate action and human rights law converge. We invite researchers and legal practitioners to share their insights on: the right to a healthy environment, Climate Change and Human Rights, Rights of Present and Future Generations, Rights of Nature, Accountability and Reparations in the context of Climate Change, and Duty of Cooperation and Global justice. Mass Atrocities, Environmental Degradation, and Communities’ Rights Conference (abstracts)
The Congress of Nations and States (CNS), the Dundee Just Transition Hub, and the University of Stirling invite you to join us for the global conference on Mass Atrocities, Environmental Degradation, and Communities’ Rights. We invite scholars, artists, community leaders, and practitioners to submit proposals that explore the intersections of climate justice, human rights, and systemic harm. Submissions are welcome in the form of academic papers, performances, artistic works, literary pieces, or cultural/environmental displays. Deadline: October 15, 2025. Conference: May 18-21, 2026. Calls for Input:

Call for written submissions on the draft guidelines on addressing multiple and intersectional forms of discrimination against women and girls with disabilities
Purpose: to further guide states parties and other duty bearers to address the implementation gaps and to collect a repository of good practices in addressing multiple and intersecting forms of discrimination against women and girls with disabilities.

Call for input for EMRTD study “Artificial Intelligence, Cultural Rights, and the Right to Development”
Purpose: To inform the drafting of Expert Mechanism on the Right to Development’s thematic study on “Artificial Intelligence (AI), Cultural Rights, and the Right to Development.” This study is part of the Mechanism’s broader mandate to examine emerging global challenges that impact the realization of the right to development.

Opportunities:

UNFCCC Programme Officer, Mitigation Division (Bonn, Germany)
This position is located in the Mitigation division, which supports Parties to facilitate, catalyze and cooperate in the implementation of ambitious climate action in line with global efforts to limit temperature increase to well below 2 °C and pursue efforts to limit this increase to 1.5 °C above pre-industrial levels. You will serve as the Regional Lead of the RCC Asia and the Pacific, within the Implementation Coordination Subdivision of the Mitigation Division. Green Alliance, Policy Advisor (London, England)
We are looking for a new policy adviser who will work primarily in our natural environment to help deliver ambitious leadership for the environment. They may also work on projects for one or more of our other themes. You will be a strong researcher and confident communicator who can understand the main environmental and political challenges in the UK. You will work as part of a team that uses political, policy and analytical insights to drive forward UK government policy on food, farming, land use and nature. The University of Chicago Institute for Climate and Sustainable Growth (ICSG) is a groundbreaking initiative that brings together faculty from across the University to advance society’s understanding of our energy and climate future. The Climate Impact Lab, a flagship initiative of the ICSG, convenes leading climate scientists, economists, data engineers, and risk analysts to quantify the impacts of climate change sector-by-sector and community-by-community across the globe. The Executive Director, Climate Impact Lab will be responsible for determining, managing, and successfully executing the next stage of the Lab’s development at a critical moment of opportunity. Application deadline: rolling. The EU and the Aarhus Convention – taking stock of the Union’s progress towards Environmental Democracy (online and in-person, Brussels)
The Aarhus Convention continues to be widely celebrated as a beacon of environmental democracy and has played a considerable role in advancing the notion of procedural environmental rights in the European Union and beyond. Has the EU done enough to ensure sufficient avenues to challenge environmental law violations? How can planning of the ecological transition be accelerated, while ensuring public participation in and acceptability of new projects? In this workshop, we will bring together academics, policymakers and stakeholders to explore these important questions concerning the ongoing trajectory of the Convention under its three pillars of access to information, public participation and access to justice.’ Date: September 24, 2025.
