Investment Law and the Environment – Edited Collection (call for chapter)
Editors of the upcoming CUP book ‘Investment Law and the Environment’ have a chapter on the intersection between investment agreements and the Paris Agreement/Climate Change obligations and are looking for someone who would be willing to write that for us (with a hard deadline in June 2025 including revisions). If you or someone you know might be willing to do that, please reach out to Dr Güneş Ünüvar at gunes.unuvar@mpi.lu ASAP. The editors are also open to adding another chapter, so if you have another idea in line with the book’s theme that you would like to discuss, please email Güneş with your idea.
Ex-situ Conservation Measures: Between Wild Animal Exploitation and Wild Animal Welfare (abstracts)
Annual Rule of Law and Sustainable Development Seminar Hosted by the Centre for International Law and Globalisation, Southampton Law School. It is the main objective of this seminar to facilitate discussions concerning the protection of wild animals in the context of increasing in-situ conservation measures. We invite scholars from all disciplines to participate in the event to foster interdisciplinary perspectives on the following issues:
(i) Trophy Hunting and Wild Animal Welfare: The Rise of Global Protective Measures
(ii) Captive Breeding: Towards Wild Animal Factory Farms?
(iii) Canning Canned Hunting: Lessons from Foreign Jurisdictions

Center for International Environmental Law – Senior Attorney for Fossil Fuel Phaseout (USA, Switzerland, or Remote)
As a Senior Attorney in CIEL’s Climate and Energy Program, you will undertake research and analysis to inform the negotiation and design of an international legal instrument to halt the expansion of fossil fuels, manage their decline, and ensure a just transition to a fossil-free future. The ideal candidate will have substantial expertise in public international law, including international environmental law, trade, and environment, as well as a robust understanding of the global oil and gas industry, and experience with treaty negotiations. Katiba Institute – Legal Fellow for Climate Justice (Kenya)
The Legal Fellow- Climate Justice is a one-year fellowship that will allow an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya in private practice to have the opportunity to work on climate justice issues. The Legal Fellow will be responsible for providing legal advice to members of the public, supporting local organisations, communities and community partners through capacity building, and providing technical and other support to civil society partners on matters related to climate justice. The Legal Fellow will be expected to research environmental matters specifically on climate change, share research findings with stakeholders at relevant meetings and workshops in Kenya, and assist in developing and litigating strategic litigation cases on behalf of KI. They will also be responsible for forming and maintaining good working relationships with partners, including communities, constitutional commissions, government entities, and donors. UN Environment Programme – Legal Officer (Bangkok)
This position is located in the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), Law Division, in Bangkok, Thailand. Under the direct supervision of the Head of Unit, the incumbent will be responsible for the following duties (not exhaustive): Handles a range of issues related to environmental law (substantive, procedural and comparative), including the environmental rule of law, the interpretation and application of MEAs at the national, regional and international level, in consultation with senior Legal Officers. • Conducts extensive legal research and analysis in the field of environmental law, and prepares studies, comparative studies, briefs, reports and correspondence. • Undertakes basic or extensive review of legal documents, instruments, or other material; identifies important issues, similarities, and inconsistencies. • Prepares or assists in the preparation of drafts of background papers, studies, reports, legislative texts and commentaries on those texts, teaching materials in the field of international environmental law.
