New Frontiers of Access to Justice, Anglia Ruskin University (papers)
The future of access to justice has never been more important. It is affected by the accelerating pace of digitalisation, the evolution of environmental law into new frontiers, the emergence of diverse avenues—both public and private—for accessing justice systems, remedies and institutions, and the profound impacts of these developments on vulnerable and migrant groups. International Law Weekend (‘ILW’) 2024, American Branch of the International Law Association (panel proposals)
ILW 2024 will take place October 24-26, 2024 in New York City. The ILW Organizing Committee invites panel proposals to be submitted online by 15 April, 2024 through this Google form. The unifying theme for ILW 2024 is Powerless law or law for the powerless? ILW 2024 will move away from classic panel presentations and lectures and instead embrace more interactive formats like roundtables, fireside chats, practica/simulations, and other, more inclusive and interactive forms of engagement. Wageningen University is recruiting an inspiring professor to lead the Law chair group. The Law Group focuses on legal solutions to societal problems, including those studied in life sciences domains. Book Launch: Children as Climate Citizens – A sociolegal approach to public participation, Brussels School of Governance (hybrid)
Through exploring the difficulties but also the opportunities and aspirations of children as citizens challenging the current climate change regime, the book proposes legal and policy tools for children’s participation in global climate change governance, as it outlines a concept of children’s climate citizenship. Speakers at the event will reflect on the network of pathways of public participation discussed in the book, which children employ to make an impact on climate action: high level conferences and governance structures to grassroots youth movements and climate change litigation.
