Abstract

Analyses the official publications of multinational companies involved in the delivery of water services in developing countries, and presents the findings of interviews with senior staff members, to examine how these companies understand and use the language of humanrights. Assesses their interpretations of the right to water and the extent to which it is invoked to enhance the legitimacy of the companies’ operations. Considers some possible implications of the growing recognition of a relationship between business and humanrights.
