Founder and Director: Capacity Global
Maria is the Founder and Director of Capacity Global, the London based environmental justice think-tank and non-governmental organisation. She specialises in environmental justice and equality.
Maria started her career as a researcher specialising in climate change and human rights before becoming the Director of the Environmental Law Foundation and then establishing Capacity Global. Maria has held a number of trustee and advisory roles including, amongst others to DEFRA on environmental equality, a Commissioner for the UK Sustainable Development Commission and a Commissioner for English Heritage. She is currently the Matron of the Women’s Environment Network and a Patron of UKELA.
Maria has a Masters in Public International Law (specialising in environmental law and human rights) and is also the author of numerous publications on environmental justice and equality. She is listed in the Top 100 Greens for her work on environmental justice and has been presented by the London Mayor and Greater London Authority the London Leaders Award for establishing The Academy for greener jobs.
